Dear Members,

Well this month its the 15th anniversary of Fly UK, so look out for special things going on and extra awards if you join in. There is a 15 year service award available for those that have the service, this must be requested manually by the members that qualify.

Last month's activity at Fly UK had an average of 340 unique pilots per week filing a PIREP in March. We received 2049 Mainstream PIREPs, 705 Tour PIREPs and 611 Flying Club PIREPs. Membership numbers currently stand at 954

The clocks have changed in UK to British Summer Time, so our events and schedules, being zulu time, are now 1 hour behind our local time.

Skyways Magazine

A Birthday edition will be available soon. Keep a look out for it on the website.

As per NOTAM Sierra, SkyTrack 1.8 is now available for download. This release changes the default unit of weight from pounds to kilograms. It also contains the following fixes:

  • Fix issue where it would not be possible to resume recording following a full system crash if using FSUIPC or XPUIPC.
  • Fix crash if the application is closed using the task manager on Windows 7 while the 'stop recording' dialog is still open.

The new version is available on the downloads page.

Birthday events

Every first Saturday of the month, there is a Simmers meeting at Sherburn Flying club. For our Birthday on the weekend of the 6th April, can we try and get more members and staff to meet up at Sherburn to celebrate our 15th Birthday. Ken Hall UKV1142 is our main man at the meetings and has attended there all the time that Fly UK has been operating.

Please put the date in your diary and post your intentions in the forum post in real world events. Birthday cake may be up for grabs and sometimes there are free rides going, offered by the flying club members to simmers.

A big month for ops, as most of our scheduled operations change to summer schedules and we also have some fleet moves and changes. With the introduction of the 747-8i we move five B744 airframes to Gatwick where they boost the long haul services available there. Also moving is the Edinburgh A320 fleet which has swapped base with Manchester's 737-800's. Edinburgh also adds some long haul services as a trial.

Finally we see the seasonal route rotation on some LHR routes between the 747 and 777 fleet. We've also moved some routes around for the B738 and A320/321 fleet.

Delivery flights for new 747 and 787 airframes are now complete and are live in service. We now look towards the new types joining Aurora in May.

The Pilot Handbook has been updated to version 2.32 to reflect changes to our Discord age policy and conditions of use.
