Guest
__________________________________________Fly UK & vRAF announce new supply operations! ________________________________________________ After talks with vRAF (The Virtual Royal Air Force), Fly UK are pleased to announce that we have successfully negotiated a new contract for 2010. Such partnerships are important at Fly UK as we strive to offer more interesting assignments for pilots who wish to try something different alongside their usual flying. We hope you enjoy them! Please see below for a more detailed look at our current contract with vRAF as it will now stand, taking into account the new agreements. All of the vRAF flights are operated by our special Boeing 767-300 which has been modified to carry a maximum of 196 passengers and the remaining payload all cargo.Weekly Falklands Supply Air BridgeBrize Norton > Ascension > Falklands > Ascension > Brize Norton This route was previously operated by an aircraft based at Gatwick thus there was a Gatwick > Brize Norton leg (and vica versa) at each end. We have now decided to base the aircraft at Brize Norton itself due to an increase in service frequency. This route is use to provide a heavy-goods supply chain for the British Forces base on the Falkland islands.Weekly Cyprus Transport Air BridgeBrize Norton > Akrotiri > Hannover > Brize Norton | 5th March 2010 > 6th August 2010 This flight operating to Akrotiri is primarily a troop supply flight for the RAF base in Cyprus. This base is a training location for many RAF related activites as well as a number of British Forces excercises. The stop at Hannover on the return is for “Theatre Desensitization” whereby troops spend 2 - 3 days in Hannover to blow off steam before returning to normal life with their families. vRAF will support this route by operating the return from Hannover on other separate days too.Weekly Operation Herrick SupportBrize Norton > Kuwait > Hannover > Brize Norton | 6th March 2010 > 23rd July 2010 The purpose of this flight is to aid with the constant replinishment of troops for combat operations in the Middle East. Troops from all of the British Forces will fly to Kuwait for training and tours of duty. This operation aims to help the supply chain keep active and regular, greatly helping with the logistical organisation of the whole operation. Again, the stop at Hannover on the return is for “Theatre Desensitization” whereby troops spend 2 - 3 days in Hannover to blow off steam before returning to normal life with their families. vRAF will support this route by operating the return from Hannover on other separate days too.Monthly Support OperationBrize Norton > Belize > Brize Norton | 14th March > Until Further Notice This monthly flight is, again, flown in order to help the supply chain for the British Forces base in Belize. The base here is primarily used to Jungle training based around the British Ghurkha Regiments.
