Carl has joined the staff team as a TA instructor, so will be taking one2one training sessions for the Training Academy who recently celebrated its 1500th training session! We wish Carl the best of luck in his new position. We would also like to thank Mike Higgins who has decided to step down from his staff position on the Fly UK staff team. Mike has contributed a large amount of time helping other members through the Training Academy and his advice and assistance will be missed. We are happy that Mike will be remaining a member of Fly UK, and will now be able to concentrate on his flying! Mike also plans to help out with aircraft downloads and creating scenery for the weekly events. - Flying Club We are happy to announce that we have made a number of improvements to our Flying Club. The main Flying Club web page has been updated to make it easier to use & find the relevant information. You can view this page here: http://www.flyuk.aero/en/index.php?page=fc_home Included in the new pages is a roster (Select "Roster" from the top menu) which shows all the members who have flown with the Flying Club within the last month. We hope this will help allow members to meet & get in touch to share Flying Club flights. Further to this, we announced that Flying Club pireps over the duration of 1 hour will now keep a pilot active in the system. For full details & information on this, please see our pilot handbook here: http://www.flyuk.aero/en/index1.php?page=p...dbook&id=17 - Screenshot Competition - Sponsored by UK2000 Scenery Congratulations to UKV1859 - Paul Beal who was the winner of the June screenshot competition with his winning shot 'Sunrise Touchdown at Heathrow'. You should find all the information you need on the online events page, if not, please do not hesitate to message a member of staff, post in the forums, or come and speak to us on Teamspeak. Remember we meet on Fly UK Teamspeak before every online event, make sure you pop on to meet the rest of the guys and say hello, it is also a great chance to ask any questions or check information prior to the event beginning! We look forward to flying with you! For more information on July's online events, please see: http://www.flyuk.aero/en/index.php?page=pr...ease&id=570 - IVAO Online Operations As always, IVAO gets quite a bit of attention from our members! It has been a busy month for June, with our Weekly Events on Saturdays having taken us from Malaga to Mahon, Budapest to Genoa, Liverpool to Hamburg and Melbourne to Sydney, and our own monthly event from London Heathrow to Amsterdam as well as an IVAO hosted VA Event which took us from our very own Leeds Bradford to Milan! As for July, the excitement does not stop! The Weekly Flights are going on a tour within Pakistan and India, flying from Delhi to Hyderabad, then to Mumbai, then Bhopal and ending the month in Kathmandu. This should be exciting and different from the regular schedule of flights and pilots are strongly recommended to join us on these flights as they are usually filled with lots of fun and banter! For a more UK based event, our monthly flight sees us flying from Brussels to Glasgow on the 8th which should be a nice short hop for us to relax after a long day at work for most of us. Remember, if you are planning on attending any events, please confirm your attendance. UKV activity on IVAO continues to increase, its great to see so many UKV's on the Eye, please keep it up and we hope you continue to enjoy flying with Fly UK on IVAO! - VATSIM Online Operations What a fantastic month it's been in the VATSIM world. First we had Mid Summer Madness, where Fly UK got to participate as a group flight to Ireland. Then came the World Cup flight, where we ferried eager passengers all the way down to South Africa. Surprisingly, this event drew 7 pilots, which was unexpected for such a long haul. Well done especially to UKV2054 - Spiro Katerelos who turned up on the right departure time! June ended with the inaugural VATSIM New Pilots Day, where 8 eager pilots, both beginners and veterans, dazzled controllers at Birmingham with their flying skills (apart from a few minor incidents...). General VATSIM online flying has also had quite an excellent month. Under the watchful eye of staff, we've seen an increase in the number of people using correct callsigns. Alternates remain a bit shaky (remember to put one in your flight plan for every mainstream flight you do online); no doubt we'll get there by the end of summer. Europe continues to be our most popular destination for VATSIM fliers, despite an increase in the number of people doing Australian and American flights. We're also happy to announce that in June, our Vroute community soared to 80+ pilots, breaking an all time record for our airline. Next target, one hundred! Now looking to July, we have another whirlwind of flights for you to experience, from across the world in Japan, to a traditional Heathrow to Amsterdam Run. Enjoy your summer of flying on VATSIM! - Web & Systems Update Our web and systems team have been busy making updates to the site throughout June and our new flight tracking software is progressing very well. We have 10 members helping us test the first version of the software. The Current Flights map on the Flight Operations (FOP) page which shows pilots flying on IVAO & VATSIM has been updated. The page now has different coloured lines for flights on the different networks. We are also in the final stages of completing a new map feature for the logbook page. This new feature will show all the destinations a pilot has flown to on a map. We hope you will enjoy this new feature, we think its quite interesting, especially for highly ranked pilots with lots of flights. - Fly UK / Empora Codeshare Terminated Fly UK regrets to inform all members that the codeshare agreement between Fly UK and Empora Virtual has been terminated with immediate effect. All Empora flights and aircraft have been removed from the Fly UK system. CEO of Fly UK Chris Sutcliffe commented: "I am sad to see that Empora Virtual has not been able to resolve their recent problems which has now resulted in the temporary closure of the VA. The codeshare flights have been very popular with pilots at Fly UK but due to the uncertain future of Empora Virtual it is not viable for us to continue with the codeshare agreement. Our operations team are actively searching for an alternative US carrier to setup a codeshare agreement with, we hope to be in a position to bring you news about a new codeshare very soon." - In-Flight Entertainment Updated for July! Our selection of in-flight entertainment has been updated. From Top Gear to Michael McIntyre to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, there's something for everyone this July onboard Fly UK! In-Flight Entertainment can be accessed via the Fly UK In-Flight Services (IFS) kneeboard.
