CEO Stepping Down

Posted 26 Jun 2006

Fly UK is sad to say that Chris Sutcliffe, CEO, has had to step down from his position as the CEO of this virtual airline due to real-world commitments.  These real-world commitments have lead to less time for Chris to spend working on Fly UK and therefore Chris has decided to step down during the Summer period.  Chris will however remain as the Founder of Fly UK Virtual Airways and will also remain a Senior Manager in the Marketing / Public & Corporate Relations department.  Senior Manager Tim Chambers has however been promoted to CEO and will be following in Chris' footsteps, completing all the necessary tasks that he once did.

Tim comments, "I would just like to say thank you to Chris for all of the hard work, commitment, devotion and patience that he has put into Fly UK since it began April 2004.  Chris, along with the highly dedicated Fly UK staff team, has made Fly UK into a truely realistic and professional, yet fun virtual airline and one that is well known throughout the virtual flight simulation world.

"I hope that Chris will approve of the work that I do as CEO and I hope that all of Fly UK's pilots approve also.  I know that I will never be able to replace Chris, and I do not wish to, however I hope that the work I do, and the contributions that I make, will make Fly UK Virtual Airways a better virtual airline!

"We will not be saying goodbye to Chris as he will remain a member of the management team and will continue to make contributions to Fly UK as the Senior Manager in the Marketing / Public & Corporate Relations department, however I still want to thank him for all of his work and I hope that he continues to enjoy working with Fly UK in his new department of work."

Chris comments, "As some of you know, I now have a real job working up at Leeds Bradford airport and as a result as well as other things, I wont have as much spare time to dedicate to Fly UK this summer. I wish Tim all the very best in his new position, Tim is more than capable of fulfilling the role of CEO at Fly UK and there is no doubt in my mind that he will do an excellent job along with the rest of the team, and lead Fly UK to continue being an enjoyable, realistic and professional virtual airline community. My aim when I started Fly UK was to create a friendly VA community and provide people with an easy to use & enjoyable VA service with the feel of a real airline, and for it hopefully to become one of the best in the UK. Not boasting or anyting, but I think I can say that along with the superb staff team I have worked with over the last 2 years, we have more or less achieved that. I thank you all for your continued support and it's time now for someone else to lead the Fly Uk team now and bring in their own fresh new ideas, I will still be here in the team working in another role, I will also be around on TS as usual and look forward to flying with you all more (hopefully!)."

Fly UK would like to wish Chris all the very best and thank him for creating this fantastic virtual airline that we operate; in our eye's, Fly UK already is the best virtual airline in the UK!
