Introducing Topa Sky

Following from the success of the Highland Connect and Nordic Sky franchises, Fly UK Group will welcome a new franchise to the fold in Autumn 2017.

To further build and expand our global network coverage along with our Codeshare partners, the Fly UK operations team has successfully acquired an operation based in Wellington, New Zealand. It gives us great pleasure to introduce our new venture, Topa Sky.

Topa Sky is derived from the Maori language native to New Zealand, topa meaning to soar, fly, swoop. You will have to wait a little longer for the livery, but you can be sure it will represent the name and culture from the region in which the franchise will operate.

We will inherit an existing fleet of Cessna Caravans (both G1000 and classic fit) and Airbus A320’s which operate an exciting mix of local, regional and international routes throughout New Zealand, Fiji, Eastern Australia and American Samoa.  With a set of flight plans checked by VATSIM NZ staff, many airfields with strictly VFR operations without published approach procedures, approach procedures with high minimums, runway lengths at the limit of the A320 performance, and routes which are impossible at aircraft MTOW, our flight crews are in for some unique challenges!

Fly UK is currently considering expanding the existing route network giving Topa Sky a deeper reach into Australia and Asia. Our intention is to expand Topa in a managed fashion to become a leading VA in the region filling the gap between Fly UK and Metroair adding coverage in the Pacific / Asia region.

So, whether you’re looking for a challenging VFR approach into Milford Sound carrying tourists, delivering supplies to a Pacific Island paradise in American Samoa, or flying the heavy metal on key scheduled domestic and international routes, Topa Sky has something for you.
