vRAF Cargo Partnership
Posted 26 Jul 2009
Fly UK Virtual Airways are pleased to announce that following detailed talks with Virtual Royal Air Force, that Fly UK have signed an contract with vRAF, which involves Fly UK supporting vRAF Operations by transporting various equipment and supplies around the world.
The contract which will last for one year, will begin in mid August following the planned re-structuring of the Fly UK operations. When the Operations with vRAF are announced, the flights will be assigned to any pilots who wish to participate, when the flights are available. However, it must be noted that only 1 pilot will be required per flight requested by vRAF, in order to maintain realism and this will be decided, on a first come, first serve basis.
The flights will be conducted in the Fly UK Boeing 747-400, as this aircraft will allow Fly UK to carry a range of supplies and equipment that is requested by vRAF. Â
Duncan MacKellar, Deputy Commander-In-Chief (Operations) of vRAF commented "I think that the Cargo contract between Virtual Royal Air Force and Fly UK brings an added dimension of realism to both sides. It is important to vRAF as currently our deployments are far reaching and a lot of Equipment is required, not all of which we can move ourselves in our C-17ERs. I believe that it will also enhance Fly UK's Pilots experience knowing that there are Squadrons of Fighters and Helicopters relying on them to deliver their Cargo on time!".
Robert Allen, Head of Operations at Fly UK also commented on the new agreement "This transportation contract between vRAF and Fly UK is a milestone in Fly UK's five years of service. We are very happy to be finalising the contract with vRAF and we hope the one year contract will expand for more years to come. We would like to thank vRAF for considering us for the contract with them. We look forward working with vRAF!"
The flights required for vRAF which will available to Fly UK pilots will be announced in the next few weeks.
