Winter Operations changes

Posted 02 Nov 2018

Several operations changes are now live with more to follow in the coming weeks. For detail you can visit the operations pages but a small summary follows below.

Mainstream

All mainstream bases switched to winter operations as of 1st November. This see's reductions in some of the more traditional coastal and island Mediterranean and European regional destinations. Our longer hauls routes are largely unchanged following the changes resulting from the recent 787 and A350 expansion. LHR does however see some type rotation on 777/747 routes for the winter months in order to freshen the choice for our members.

Fly 2

Fly 2 summer operations are now winding down as we bring the last of the European sun destination holiday makers back home. Final return flights will take place November 16th. Our winter sun routes take over from November 17th with our ski routes will commencing 10th December.

As has become custom for Fly2 we will be supplying airframes on wet lease to operate on the peak Canadian tourist season serving routes to Mexico and the Caribbean. For 2018/19 we will be sending our usual 757's as well as some 737's at Montreal and Vancouver.

Topa Sky
Although we generalise everything as winter change, obviously our southern hemisphere franchise moves into their summer time.

Thanks to all members who took part in the delivery flights for the Topa expansion, quite a few of you took on the long distances involved. Topa's new bases and fleet are now operational greatly expanding our route Network throughout the Oceania region. Also notably in this recent growth you can now fly to Hawaii from Auckland meaning for the first time in our history our members can circumnavigate the globe via Fly UK and Codeshare partner routes without the need for ultra-long haul transpacific flights.

Cargo
Our cargo routes are undergoing update planning currently with more information to be released during November.

Highland Connect

Introduction of the Saab340 at the Aberdeen base has freed up B1900's which we are planning to move and operate from from Ronaldsway, Isle of Man. Dan Ridley has recently taken on a deeper review of Highland Connect operations so more to follow.

Metroair Codeshare
Our codeshare flight with Metroair have been updated to reflect their latest timetable and fleet changes with their A330-300 being retired from fleet. We have also added flights featuring their new 737-800 routes operating on the west coast.

Aurora
Finally but by no means least, with these changes now complete we start to ramp up our planning for Aurora. Talks with current owners are almost complete ready for us to take over early in the new year. The ops team and franchise manager are finalising the fleet we will retain and grow as well as the routes over the coming weeks so more news to follow in November.

We hope our member enjoy all these changes as we head into the colder months (warmer if you visit Topa Sky).
