Epic tour for the Flying Club

Posted 01 Feb 2016

In 2013 Tracey Curtis-Taylor completed a trip from Cape Town in South Africa to Goodwood in UK which, as far as possible, followed the original route taken by Lady Mary Heath in 1928.  Lady Heath was a pioneering pilot, but is little known because of her premature death, however, Tracy aimed to bring the flight back to the attention of the world by following in Lady Heath's footsteps.

The Flying Club is happy to present this spectacular flight as our new tour.  It follows a route closely imitating Lady Heath's and Tracey's routes which were slightly different due to logistical problems and world events between the two flights - Lady Heath flew along the North African coast and crossed to Italy on the shortest crossing, but because of problems in Libya, Tracy took a longer route avoiding Tripoli to cross into Greece.

We've even found a couple of downloads to use on the tour and flying them in the same adventurous way may take some time but will certainly provide for an exciting tour.

Let us know how you get on - but most of all, enjoy!
