Event Report - B747 Sim Coventry
________________________________________________

On Sunday 24th April, members of Fly UK travelled to Coventry to take part in our first group simulator day. The event was very enjoyable and a great success.

We arrived at the simulator around midday. Carl, Jeff and Chris were slightly delayed due to a trip via McDonalds on the way there!! To begin we watched a video presentation which gave us an insight into the B747, the simulator and the systems. After this we planned how the day would work. Everyone would take it in turns to complete 2 landings at our home base London Heathrow, 2 attempts to land at the world famous Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong and a take off from the legendary St. Maarten! We thought we would choose nice and easy airports as this was our first time?!

Anyway, first on the flight deck was Pete. There is room for 3 people in the sim. Pete was sat in left seat, John in the right seat on hand to assist along the way and whoever was due to fly next, observed.

Whilst 3 were upstairs in the sim, the rest of us were downstairs with light refreshments watching the action on the big screen! There is a webcam in the sim which feeds down to the television, this allowed us to watch and discuss what was happening in the sim. Everyone took their turn, John scored each of our attempts in the sim throughout the day. After everyone had their turn, certificates were given for the best landing and worst crash! Richard was awarded best landing and Pete the worst crash.

After the event, a couple of members were booked into the local Travelodge for the night so headed into Coventry for a meal and a few drinks.

Thanks to all members that attended:

UKV1121 - Chris Sutcliffe
UKV1174 - Jeffrey Shen
UKV1212 - Adam Hillier
UKV1390 - Pete Gill
UKV1446 - Richard Eamer
UKV1586 - Carl Chamberlain
UKV1678 - Chris Clarke

Many thanks to John and Andrew for looking after us and making it a great day. We hope to return to the simulator and organise more Fly UK simulator days in the future. In the meantime, we thoroughly recommend the simulator which is available to hire by the hour for pleasure flights, lessons and more. Full information can be found on the simulator website at: http://www.747simulator.co.uk. If you are thinking of making a visit, feel free to contact us in advance if you have any questions. You will have a great experience and will be made to feel very welcome. Also, make sure you mention you are from Fly UK when booking!
