Fly UK Virtual Airways: New Operations Launched
________________________________________________
Fly UK Virtual Airways are pleased to announce that after months of extensive planning and hard work, our new route network is now active.
Fly UK is now split into three operational areas:
- Mainstream
- Tours
- Flying Club
Mainstream operations include:
- Scheduled
- Cargo
- Low Cost (FLY2)
- Ad-Hoc
Each flight also has a type:
- UK Domestic
- European
- Worldwide
You can find out more information about the new mainstream operations, our bases, destinations and aircraft here: index.php?page=division_mainstream
You will notice that we no longer have charter or regional route types. These operations have been merged into scheduled operations. Destinations will constantly be reviewed by our operations team and there will be schedule changes for the summer and winter seasons.

New Ad-Hoc Contract
Fly UK have signed a contract with Virtual Royal Air Force, which involves Fly UK supporting vRAF Operations by transporting various equipment and supplies around the world. The flights will be conducted by a Fly UK Boeing 747-400 aircraft, as this aircraft will allow Fly UK to carry a range of supplies and equipment that is requested by vRAF.
Fly UK will also begin to operate weekly flights to the Falkland Islands on behalf of vRAF, beginning 30th September 2009 using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
Fleet Changes
Our fleet has also seen a number of changes. Firstly, the Boeing 757-300 will be withdrawn from service and Boeing 757-200 aircraft from the cargo division will be converted into Boeing 757-200 passenger configuration, in order to replace the Boeing 757-300's. The Boeing 757-200's have also been fitted with winglets. Secondly, we have decided to remove the Airbus A340-600 from the Fly UK fleet and operate the Airbus A340-300 only.

- Fokker 100 - Operating from Southampton
- Boeing 757-200F - Operating from Stansted

Website Changes
We have also been working on a number of website upgrades to coincide with the launch of the new operations. There will be a separate press release with more information about the website upgrades but to give you an idea, we have a new flight planning page that includes new airport operational information pages which replace the old ops info PDF's. We have also introduced new flight manifests which are now known as flight despatch pages. All route data including flight routings and flight levels have been updated. We'll also be introducing a new IVAO/VATSIM Google map flight tracker.
