Fly UK's featured destination for Herbstmond is Munich. Herbstmond being an old German word for September, meaning the Autumn/Harvest Moon.

Munich is the capital and the largest city of the German state of Bavaria, located on the River Isar, north of the Bavarian Alps. Bavaria is one of the oldest states of Europe and is home to Neuschwanstein Castle, one of the most beautiful castles to behold and inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. Take a look and I am sure you will agree it is simply stunning.

Munich is the third largest city in Germany, behind Berlin and Hamburg, with a populatiom of nearly 1.5 million, and is well known for its Oktoberfest. So now you are asking Oktoberfest? It's September! Well yes it is, but the Oktoberfest actually starts in mid September ending the first weekend in October. It all started with a wedding party in 1810 between the Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. It was a popular that popular that they decided to do it all again the following year, and have done ever since. Almost 7 million liters of beer are served during Oktoberfest.

Munich airport is about 28km northeast of Munich City and is a major hub for Lufthansa second only to Frankfurt. It has two parrallel concrete runways, 08R/26L and 25R/08L, both at 4000m in length and is Germany's second busiest airport, handling 37,763,701 passengers in 2011. Construction of this airport started in 1980 and commenced operations in 1992, Terminal 2 was finished in June 2003.

Fly UK offers 2 scheduled flights between Heathrow and Munich a day, with a third Cargo flight arriving at Munich from Stansted on Thursday, before departing onwards for New Delhi. Keep an eye out for Ad-Hoc flights operating to Munich during Oktoberfest.

Finally, Munich is home to the famous yodeller Franzl Lang who spent much of his childhood growing up in Munich, See the video below for an example of his work:
