Fly UK Virtual Airways are pleased to announce that our featured destination for June is Rome, A city with over two and a half thousand years of history. Extending all the way from it's foundation in 753 BC to the 1960 AD Olympic Games and becoming the EU's Third most visited city in 2007. However, the most notable history of Rome is it's involvement with the Romans.
Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, or just Fiumicino Airport, was opened in January, 1961. The airport was opened with two runways. At present there are four Asphalt runways at the airport, three facing 16/34, and one facing 07/25. The busiest route from the airport is to Madrid, with Heathrow placing third.
The average year round temperature for Rome is 15.2°C, Which reaches 30.6°C in August, and drops to just 3.1°C in January. Here are some facts for June.

Perhaps the most well known landmark in Rome is the Colosseum. Built between 72-80 AD, It's construction was started under the rule of Emperor Vespasian, and completed under the rule of Emperor Titus. The Colosseum, capable of seating 50,000 spectators, was used for gladiatorial battles, along with mock sea and land battles, animal hunts, executions, and dramas. Did you know that the Colosseum appears on the Italian five cent coin.
Fly UK operates three flights to Rome per week in the B738, the B763, and the E170. Two of the flights are from Heathrow, with the third operating from Leeds Bradford. Flights from Heathrow operate everyday, with flights from Leeds Bradford operating only on Saturdays.
