Operational Changes

Posted 15 Apr 2006

As you are all aware, for the last few months the managers at Fly UK have been working hard to improve the quality of operations at Fly UK and try to add a bit of variety to our pilots flying.  Now, I am pleased to announce that the operations are nearly ready to commence as the last stages of planning are currently taking place.

For scheduled flights, flights will depart from one of four bases.  These bases include London Heathrow (EGLL), Glasgow (EGPF), Leeds Bradford (EGNM) and Birmingham (EGBB).

Destinations from the London Heathrow base include Seville, Rome Fiumicino, Cologne, Helsinki, Krakow, Belgrade, Montreal, Dubai, Hong Kong and many more.  Destinations from the Glasgow base include Paris Orly, Amsterdam, Malaga, Lisbon, Milan, Oslo, Gothenburg, Los Angeles, Bahrain, Mauritius, Panama City and a variety of other destinations.  From Leeds Bradford, Fly UK pilots can fly to Innsbruck, Brussels, Jersey, Dusseldorf, Paris Charles-De-Gaulle, New York via Shannon and several others.  And from the Birmingham base, where flights will depart from Terminal 2, pilots will be able to travel to Gothenburg, Bergerac, Berne, Copenhagen, Dubai and a variety of others.

Regarding Fly UK's regional operations, there will be a variety of routes to and from the main scheduled hubs (as detailed above).  By including regional operations at Fly UK, we aim to create routes in which pilots will be able to visit their local airports and imitate city hops within the UK.

As the Winter Charter programme has now lapsed, charter operations will be commencing for the Summer 2006 season.  Fly UK Virtual Airways will be operating these charter flights to a variety of holiday destinations from three UK airports.  From Manchester (EGCC), destinations include Paphos, Catania, Luxor, Orlando Sanford, Heraklion, Dalaman, Arrecife and Tenerife South.  From Newcastle (EGNT), destinations incluide Larnaca, Corfu, Kos, Faro and Dalaman.  From London Gatwick (EGKK), destinations include Barbados, Antalaya, Bodrum, Madeira Funchal, Alicante, Las Palmas and Princess Juliana.

Fly UK's Low Cost Airline branch will be known as Fly2.  The name was desided upon through a variety of polls held in the Fly UK community forums.  Initially Fly2 will operate on 12 routes from its Liverpool (EGGP) base and will utilise a Boeing 737-600 aircraft.  Destinations include Barcelona, Faro, Geneva, Munich and Prague.

Fly UK will announce soon once these new operational changes come into effect and anticipates that Fly UK pilots will benefit from these changes for the better!
