Yes its that time of the year again! On Sunday 31st of October, at 2230z World Flight 2010 takes off from Sydney International Airport (Australia) on a 7 day round-the-world trip in aid of various charities across the globe.

Fly UK actively promotes and supports the fundraising efforts of World Flight Scotland. World Flight Scotland are a simulator team who fly during the global World Flight event which takes place every year. Fly UK and World Flight Scotland raise money for the charity ORBIS.

ORBIS is a global charity, dedicated to preserving and restoring the sight of the poorest people in the poorest communities across the world.

For those of you that don't know, World Flight is a great VATSIM fundraising event that takes place every year.

Our Plans for World Flight 2010:

Donations:

There are many ways you can get involved with World Flight 2010. However you choose to get involved, remember the whole point of this worldwide event is to raise money for charity.

This year Fly UK aim to raise at least £150 for ORBIS! We hope many of you will join in the fun, get involved and make a donation to this great cause. You can make a donation via our special Just Giving page.

Fly World Flight Legs on VATSIM:

Want to fly under full ATC all day? Ever been held in a holding pattern on the VATSIM server? Want to be part of a 50+ aircraft departure from a single runway? World Flight will deliver these experiences on every leg. We encourage Fly UK pilots to join the simulator teams and fly World Flight legs with them on VATSIM. All the World Flight legs will be loaded into the Fly UK system so you can file pireps and gain hours for any World Flight legs that you fly.

- World Flight 2010 Routes
- World Flight legs will be available to book via the Fly UK system on 31st October

We will record the number of World Flight legs that each Fly UK pilot flies during the week and publish details on a leaderboard in the forum. At the end of the week, we will issue the Spirit Of Fly UK Award for the top 3 most active Fly UK pilots during World Flight 2010.

The Scottish Teams B737NG simulator:

If you are interested in becoming a crew member with World Flight Scotland e-mail Steve Masson for further details. The team ask that all crew members raise funds by means of sponsorship for our supported charity ORBIS.

Throughout the event we will closely monitor the progress of the simulator teams. Steve Masson from the World Flight Scotland team posts regular updates, photos and videos in the Fly UK World Flight 2010 forum to keep us up to date!
