Today marks an exciting new chapter for Fly UK as we officially launch our brand-new website and member experience.
It’s also just the start of an exciting day for Fly UK. Our team is at the FSim UK event in Bristol today, and we have more news and announcements to share throughout the day. Stay tuned for what else is coming.
Over the past few months, we’ve been working behind the scenes on one of the biggest updates to Fly UK in recent years. This isn't simply a new look for the website. We've rebuilt and redesigned large parts of the experience around how our members actually use Fly UK - from finding a flight and preparing for departure, through to tracking your progress and being part of the wider community.
And today, we're delighted to finally open it to everyone.
Built for Fly UK
One of the things we're particularly proud of is that the Fly UK website remains custom built for our community.
Rather than relying on an off-the-shelf virtual airline platform, we've continued to develop our own systems around the way Fly UK operates. That gives us the freedom to build features specifically for our members, integrate with the services we use and continue evolving the experience over time.
The new website takes that philosophy much further.
A re-imagined experience
You'll notice the difference from the moment you sign in.
The new design introduces a cleaner, more modern interface, with a fully responsive experience that works across desktop, tablet and mobile.
We've also reconsidered how different parts of Fly UK fit together. Our operations, fleet, destinations, events, community and pilot progression should feel like parts of one connected experience rather than separate areas of a website.
There are plenty of smaller changes to discover, but some of the highlights include:
- A redesigned Crew Centre giving you a clearer view of your activity, flights and progress.
- Improved flight and route discovery, making it easier to explore where you can fly and which aircraft you can use.
- A new dispatch experience, bringing together flight information, weather, SimBrief OFPs, VATSIM ATIS and other useful information when preparing for a flight.
- Deeper SimBrief integration throughout the flight planning experience.
- Improved fleet and division pages, with easier access to aircraft, routes and relevant flights.
- A richer pilot logbook, including improved maps and visualisation of your flying.
- A new screenshot gallery for sharing moments from around the Fly UK community.
- Improved events, bringing together event information, participating pilots and flight preparation.
- A refreshed community experience, including news, operational reports and easier access to the places where our members interact.
- A new member onboarding experience, helping new members understand Fly UK and get flying more quickly.
And that's only part of what has changed.
More connected than ever
Flight simulation has changed considerably, and the tools available to virtual pilots are better than ever.
Our aim has been to make Fly UK complement those tools rather than compete with them.
The new site brings together integrations with services including SimBrief, ChartFox, VATSIM, live weather and scenery information, alongside our own SkyTrack flight tracking software.
The result is a more connected journey from choosing where you want to fly, through planning and dispatch, to completing your flight and seeing it become part of your Fly UK career.
One community, lots of ways to fly
Fly UK has always been about giving members choice.
Whether you enjoy short-haul airline operations, long-haul flying, regional aircraft, something a little more adventurous or simply joining other members for an event, the new website has been designed to make it easier to explore everything available across the Fly UK Group.
Different operations, aircraft and styles of flying - but one pilot identity, one logbook and one community.
Your progress, your journey
We've also put much more emphasis on the pilot journey.
Your flights aren't just entries in a database. They represent the hours, destinations, aircraft and experiences you've accumulated as part of Fly UK.
The updated Crew Centre and logbook make that history much more visible, while our ranks, awards, statistics and activity features help make long-term progression feel meaningful.
Thank you to our testers
A huge thank you must go to everyone who has helped us get here.
Over recent months, members of the Fly UK community have taken part in our Early Access programme, tested new features, completed surveys, reported bugs and - most importantly - told us when something could be better.
A significant amount of that feedback has directly influenced what you're using today.
Thank you for giving up your time to test the site and help us improve it.
This is the beginning, not the finish
Although today is launch day, we're certainly not finished.
One of the biggest advantages of having a platform built specifically for Fly UK is that we can continue developing it alongside the community.
There are already more ideas and improvements planned, and we'll continue listening to feedback as everyone starts using the new site.
You may also spot the occasional rough edge as thousands of flights, routes, pilots and pieces of historic Fly UK data meet their new home. If you find something that doesn't look right, or simply have an idea that could make the experience better, please let us know.
For now, have a look around, explore what's changed and - most importantly - get flying.
And we’re not done for today
The new website is just the beginning. We have more Fly UK news to share throughout the day, so keep an eye on the website and our community channels and stay tuned for what else is coming.
Welcome to the new Fly UK.
