Continuing on from the announcement our new website, we are extremely proud to announce a major overhaul coming to Fly UK Cargo. This overhaul has been in planning for months, bringing an exciting new fleet strategy, bases and a major expansion to the network built around realistic, true to life freighter operations that will remain fun for our members to enjoy flying.
A new look is coming.
Firstly, we are excited to announce that Fly UK Cargo will be going through a re-brand alongside the network expansion, being re-branded from Fly UK Cargo to Skyways Air Cargo! Re-branding the cargo division into Skyways Air Cargo has been in planning for months and will include a new callsign (UKC) and a shiny new livery to match, replacing the previous “New Union Spirit” livery with a livery that is instantly recognisable as part of the Fly UK Group. Stay tuned for more details!
New Network, New Base.
We can also reveal that a new base will be added to the Cargo network: Abu Dhabi International Airport (OMAA)! Abu Dhabi is our new Middle East hub for our Cargo network, allowing the network to link Europe with destinations such as Asia, India, East Africa and our US Hubs at Indianapolis (KIND) and Ontario, California (KONT). 7 airframes are planned to be based in Abu Dhabi, with a further 17 aircraft planned at our primary Cargo hub at London Stansted (EGSS).
A new, modern fleet.
Continuing into the fleet strategy itself, we are happy to announce that three new airframes will be joining the Fly UK Cargo fleet: the ATR 72F, the Airbus A300-600F and the Boeing 757-200F. The ATR 72 joins the fleet in a feeder role, providing short UK, Irish and Near-Continental European loops from Stansted alongside Gulf hops from Abu Dhabi and beyond, whilst the A300-600F and the B757-200F join the fleet in a mid-haul capacity across all hubs. The B752 will be kept off the longest mid-haul sectors, whilst the A306Fs will be kept off Atlantic services. The A300-600F will be joining the fleet in a wet-lease capacity, with an eventual switch to the Boeing 767 Freighter at a later date.
The Boeing 737-800BCF will remain a key part of the fleet, doing multi-stop circuits across Europe, the Nordics, North Africa and into the Gulf. The B738 network will reflect real-world Cargo operations, operating to airports such as Luxembourg (ELLX) alongside new feeder flights into the Gulf from Abu Dhabi. Several of our existing B738’s will be re-based and converted to support this new cargo network.
Finally, the Boeing 747-400F, the Boeing 747-8F and the Boeing 777-200LR(F) will remain firmly in the fleet, providing long-haul trunk routes across the globe.
This massive update to our Cargo network has been months in the planning, and we hope you will all enjoy hauling cargo with Skyways Air Cargo!
