Using Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 within the Fly UK Community

MSFS 2024 Quick Start Guide and FAQ's

Last Updated 3/1/25

Following on from our successful and invaluable guide for our members joining us with MSFS 2020 we have decided to continue with a similar resource for 2024.

To our new members particularly, there's a lot to catch up on in the world of Fly UK operations, so this article is to hopefully succinctly serve as the "one stop shop" to answer the questions that have been popping up frequently on our Forum and Discord channels.

Does Fly UK support Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024?

Yes, Fly UK are delighted to announce that we support MSFS 2024

Will Fly UK support the XBOX release of MSFS?

Unfortunately not. The only way to distribute MSFS content to XBox users, is via the in-sim "Marketplace", and SkyTrack is also dependant on several libraries which are only compatible with Windows-based operating systems.

What do I need?

You will need to have a legal copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator (MS Store/Steam/Boxed versions are supported), and then download SkyTrack v1.12

What Aircraft are supported within Fly UK?

MSFS 2024 is the next evolution of the 2020 release of Microsoft Flight Simulator, however few (if any) 3rd party developers had access throughout development to test compatibility with 2024. To that end, the flight-sim community are still largely waiting for developer feedback. We will update this guide following any developments on this front.

Much like the 2020 release of Microsoft Flight Simulator, there are aircraft that come natively with the sim (denoted by Default "Y"), and some 2020 Marketplace aircraft are known to work within 2024. The majority of aircraft that overlap with Fly UK's fleet however, come from 3rd party developers who still require time to be able to ratify their products for use within MSFS 2024.

To all of our MSFS 2024 early adopters; much like the 2020 release of MSFS, while we wait for more commercial airliners to come to the sim, a successful "virtual career" is technically still possible here at Fly UK. However, it's also the perfect time to dust off your General Aviation skills and explore the world within our Flying Club should you remain committed to the MSFS 2024 ecosystem at this present time.

(1) Fenix regard MSFS2024 as being purely "experimental" at this juncture. No official support is provided however installers have been updated to support installation in 2024

(2) This can only be purchased from the in-sim Marketplace. Please note that this addon comes with the "BBJ-style Highline configuration". Please note that PIREPs will only be accepted for the standard/passenger variant

(3) MSFS 2024 sees the return of the DHC6 (previously developed by Aerosoft). Please ensure that you select the "DHC6-300 Wheels" aircraft in the selection list. PIREPS submitted with any other aircraft-type will be rejected.

(4) Multiple variants exist for this aircraft-type. Please ensure that you click "Configure", and select "Passengers".

(5) A re-released "Default" A320neo, commissioned by Asobo (and developed by iniBuilds). Available within the core sim.

(6) Both "BBJ" and "Passenger" variants exist in sim. Please ensure that you click "Configure", and select "Passengers".

(7) The B747-8F can be selected as a variant of the 8i in-sim - with the 8i selected, click "Configure", and select "Freighter". Please ensure you've selected the correct 747-8 as per your booking

(8) Only available with the "Premium Deluxe" version of MSFS.

Can I fly a different aircraft than the one listed in the Tours or Flight Search?

Please see our Operations Handbook for aircraft substitution policies.

Will Fly UK Liveries be available for MSFS 2024 aircraft?

Due to the new livery packaging methods used by Asobo, a straight port on MSFS default/marketplace models is not suitable, repackaging maybe required in response to changes that Asobo have made on this front. Third party liveires such as Fenix that don't feature Asbobo encryption are less of on issue. Our Fleet Center will be updated as and when these have been verified with a unique MSFS 2024 tab section.

We remain fully committed to delivering in-house liveries for the new aircraft in MSFS 24 that feature in our fleet. However, please be aware that we have no set timescales. We will release further information in due course. In the meantime, you are welcome to fly any of the default liveries on any of the MSFS aircraft which match the Fly UK Fleet so long as the underlying aircraft and variant match.

Fly UK FSD Compatibility

This guide will be updated further once announcements have been made from both FSLTL and AIG on the topic. Please check back again later!
